Discover Monte Cicogna

Monte Cicogna is a family-run winery producing wines from two key areas on the Brescia side of Lake Garda: Riviera del Garda Classico (Valtenesi) and Lugana.
Over the years, its wines have received both national and international awards.
In addition to wine, the estate also produces extra virgin olive oil and Lugana grappa, and runs an agriturismo set in a historic farmhouse on the edge of the charming village of Moniga del Garda.

What the tasting experience includes

The winery visit begins with a walk through the vineyards, where the Monte Cicogna team shares insights into vineyard work, respect for nature and their productionmethods. You will then visit the cellar and olive groves before concluding with a guided tasting. The experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours and includes:

  • Guided tour of the winery with an introduction to the estate’s history;

  • Walk through the vineyards (weather permitting);

  • 4 glasses of estate-produced wines;

  • Pairings with local homemade delicacies;

  • Tasting of the estate’s extra virgin olive oil;

  • Stories about the territory and production techniques.

Monte Cicogna wines

The tasting selection focuses on three key expressions of the Brescia side of Lake Garda:

Spumante Rosé Extra Dry

An extra dry sparkling winemade from a blend of Barbera and Sangiovese grown in Moniga del Garda, on clay-limestone soil at 140 metres above sea level. A shortmaceration gives it its delicate rosé colour, while slow fermentation in autoclave develops a fruity and floral bouquet with notes of red berries and pastry. Soft and refreshing on the palate, it is best served at 8°C perfect as an aperitif or with light dishes.

Siclì Chiaretto di Moniga (Aged)

Siclì Affinato 2019 is a Chiaretto DOC made from Groppello Gentile, Sangiovese, Barbera and Marzemino grapes grown in the Siclì vineyard in Moniga del Garda. It ferments for a few hours in contact with the skins following the tradition of “one-night wine” and then ages for 18months in steel and 4months in bottle. The result is a cherry pink colour and a refined aromatic profile with notes of red berries. On the palate, it is fresh yet unusually complex for a Chiaretto, with a long and clean finish. Serve at 12°C—excellent with cured meats, seafood, gourmet pizza and risottos.

Beana Groppello di Moniga

Beana is a DOC red winemade predominantly (90%) from Groppello Gentile, with a small percentage of Barbera, grown in the Beana vineyard in Moniga del Garda on claylimestone soil. It ages for one year in oak barrels and three months in bottle, developing a bright ruby red colour and a fragrant bouquet of rose, blackcurrant and raspberry. On the palate, it is dry and savoury, with a subtle saline note and the distinctive bitter almond finish typical of Groppello. Best served at 19°C with redmeats, grilled dishes and aged cheeses. It can be cellared for 4–5 years if properly stored.
